Wikipedia entry for Polynesia

What are some questions you have about Polynesia?
How did the islands of Polynesia become populated?
How did the culture develop and spread?
What is the physical geography of Polynesia like?
What is the climate of Polynesia like?

WEEBLY SITE
1. Set up a new page called The Pacific World
2. Choose ONE of the questions you have today and put it as a title block on the page.
3. Begin collecting LINKS that help to answer the question and put them below the title in a text block.

EXPLORE CULTURE
1. Pick an island in Polynesia, Melanesia, or Micronesia
2. You will create a Weebly page just for information on your island
3. Here is the information about your island you will have to get across...
- Where it is located
- The physical geography (landforms, climate)
- The human geography (culture - traditions, language, customs, religion, dress, food, subsistence, transportation, etc.)
- Some history - when was their first contact with white European explorers? What effect has that had on their culture?

THE FINAL PRESENTATIONS
These will be slideshow presentations for the class. The slideshows will need to have the following:
1. A title slide - this will have the name of your island or island group - spelled correctly and capitalized
2. It will also have your first name
3. At least 2 slides that show location clearly marked - maybe a world map so we get a bigger perspective, and an area map with the island or islands circled.
4. A slide that introduces the physical geography
5. At least 2 slides that clearly show landform features of the island with titles - use geography terms (volcanoes, volcanic mountains, etc.)
6. At least 2 slides that show information about climate (remember climate is weather over a long period of time, weather includes temperature and precipitation). These will be graphs or charts - you should be able to explain them.
7. A slide that introduces human geography
8. Slides with pictures and audio or video clips that show examples of the traditional indigenous cultures of your islands. This will include examples of traditions, language, customs, religion, dress, food, subsistence, transportation, art, music, etc.) You will need to have an explanation for each - include this in your notes.
9. A slide that introduces the history
10. A few (older) pictures and a general summary - short - of the history of the indigenous people. You will need to explain this.

REMEMBER - ALL SLIDES SHOULD HAVE AN EXPLANATION THAT YOU GIVE. YOU CAN PUT THESE IN THE NOTES SECTION AND READ THEM. THEY CANNOT BE COPIED - THEY NEED TO BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS. IF YOU GET UP AND PRESENT A SLIDE SHOW AND I HEAR YOU READING SOMETHING YOU'VE COPIED, I WILL STOP YOUR PRESENTATION.

YOU WILL NEED TO BE FINISHED WITH THESE BY THIS FRIDAY THE 16TH - YOU'LL BE PRESENTING THEM NEXT TUESDAY DURING OUR FINALS CLASS
